1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms apply to the Anakrio antivirus software for Windows, the Anakrio website at anakrio.com, the license and update services utilized by the software, and the free Pro license ("Anakrio"). They constitute a binding agreement between you and Anakrio Security ("we", "us").

By downloading, installing, or using Anakrio, or by registering for a license, you accept and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Anakrio.

2. The software license

We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable right to install and use Anakrio on Windows computers that you own or are authorized to manage, provided you comply with these terms.

Anakrio remains our exclusive property. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the software or its installer under another name, nor remove any proprietary notices. Installers must only be downloaded directly from anakrio.com, and you should verify the SHA-256 checksum provided on the download page.

Anakrio incorporates third-party components and data, such as the YARA library and public threat intelligence feeds from abuse.ch, which remain subject to their respective licenses and terms.

3. The free Pro license

Registering with your name and valid email address grants you a free Pro license key. There are no fees or trial periods. The Pro tier unlocks real-time protection, YARA and heuristic detection, Full Scans, deep archive inspection, automatic quarantine, and automatic updates.

A limit of one license applies per email address. Licenses are issued for a defined validity period. You may renew your license for free via the renewal page within the designated renewal window prior to expiration. Upon expiration or if the software fails to verify the license for seven consecutive days, Pro features will temporarily pause until verification or renewal is completed; Quick Scan and Custom Scan remain fully functional.

You must provide a valid, accessible email address under your control for key delivery and recovery purposes. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the free Pro offering at any time, with announcements published on this website.

4. Your license key and account

Your license key is strictly personal. Keep it confidential and do not publish it online. We store only a cryptographic hash of your key for security; therefore, we cannot retrieve or display your original key. If lost, you can generate a new key via the renewal page, which will automatically invalidate the old key.

If you suspect unauthorized exposure of your key, immediately generate a replacement via the renewal page or contact our support team.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: share, sell, or publish license keys; use or generate unauthorized keys; attempt to bypass, disable, or tamper with license verification, update checks, or rate limits; conduct brute-force key guessing or automated bulk requests against our infrastructure; interfere with website or server operations; or utilize Anakrio for any unlawful or harmful activities.

Signature, license, and update services are shared resources. We enforce rate limits to ensure fair availability, and abusive request patterns may be blocked.

6. Revoking or terminating a license

We reserve the right to revoke or suspend a license, or restrict service access, in cases of terms violations, abuse, fraudulent information, or necessary security and legal compliance. If you believe an action was taken in error, please contact our support team for review.

You may discontinue use of Anakrio at any time by deactivating your license within the application settings and uninstalling the software.

7. Capabilities and limitations

Anakrio detects threats utilizing signatures, YARA rules, and static heuristics, and can isolate or quarantine hazardous files. Detection is not infallible; novel malware may bypass detection, and benign files may occasionally trigger false positives. Quarantined files are securely isolated so you can review or restore them.

Anakrio serves as one layer in a comprehensive security strategy. You remain solely responsible for maintaining up-to-date operating systems and applications, performing regular data backups, and evaluating whether to keep, restore, or delete quarantined items.

8. Updates and service modifications

Anakrio automatically retrieves threat signature updates and version availability information. We reserve the right to modify, update, or remove features, signatures, rules, and services to enhance detection capabilities or resolve issues. Software version upgrades are optional, and official checksums are provided for verification.

9. Privacy

Our data handling practices are detailed in our privacy policy available at /privacy.php. In summary, scanned files and local scan results remain securely on your local device; network communication with anakrio.com is strictly limited to license verification, signature updates, and version checks.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

Anakrio is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, free of charge. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation, and make no guarantees regarding threat detection accuracy.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, profits, or business interruption, arising from the use of or inability to use Anakrio, including outcomes related to false positives, missed detections, or service outages. Given that the software is provided free of charge, our total cumulative liability shall be strictly limited to the extent permitted by law.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes statutory consumer rights or liabilities that cannot legally be restricted.

12. Changes to these terms

We may periodically update these terms, with the effective date reflected at the top of this document. Continued use of Anakrio following updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be communicated via our website or release notes.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway, without regard to conflict of law principles. Mandatory consumer protection regulations of your country of residence remain unaffected.
